2025 Aviation Summer Camps

Get ready for an unforgettable summer at the Kansas Aviation Museum! Our 2025 Aviation Camps offer hands-on learning and discovery for kids of all ages. Explore Wichita's legacy as the "Air Capital of the World," build STEM skills, and discover exciting career opportunities in aviation.

Mini Manufacturer (Ages 6-9): June 9-13

Young innovators will love this hands-on camp exploring STEM, tools, and creativity! Campers will practice measuring, building, and problem-solving through fun experiments and projects, gaining skills essential for today’s careers while discovering the joy of making.

Junior Manufacturer (Ages 10-12): June 16-20

Campers will jump into an exciting hands-on camp focused on the core principles of STEM in manufacturing, with a special emphasis on aviation! They’ll learn the fundamentals of aviation manufacturing as they tackle engineering challenges and design and build their own projects. Through experiments and problem-solving, campers will sharpen their critical thinking, collaboration, and technical skills—essential abilities for success in manufacturing, engineering, and design, preparing them for the careers of tomorrow.

Master Manufacturer (Ages 12-15): June 23-27

Campers will fly into the world of aviation manufacturing in this hands-on STEM camp, where students will design and build their own aircraft! Campers will tour cutting-edge manufacturing facilities, meet industry leaders, and learn about the technologies and engineering principles that bring planes to life. Using 3D design software, printers, and other STEM tools, they’ll apply the skills and knowledge they gained to create and take home their own aircraft!

Air Legends (Ages 10-12): July 7-11

Campers will explore WWII aircraft, focusing on planes built in Wichita, a key hub for aviation during the war. Through dogfight simulators, hands-on experiments, and tours of historic aircraft, they’ll learn about iconic planes like the B-29 Superfortress and B-24 Liberator and their impact on aviation history.

Aviation Detective (Ages 10-12): July 14-18

Campers will explore aviation mysteries, including Amelia Earhart's disappearance, and learn how modern technology like satellite imagery, GPS, and drones help solve these puzzles. Discover how the National Transportation Safety Board uses cutting-edge tools to investigate lost aircraft, analyze weather patterns, and test your skills in a tech-driven plane salvage hunt!

Aviation Discovery (Ages 6-9): July 21-25

Campers will explore the science and history of flight through engaging STEM experiments, flight simulations, and guided tours of historic aircraft. They will learn to identify various types of aircraft, explain the mechanics of a turbine engine, describe the four forces of flight, gain insights into the aviation manufacturing process, and much more.

Fly to Your Future! (Ages 12-15): July 28-August 1

Campers will explore a wide range of careers in aviation, gaining insight into the many opportunities within this dynamic field. Through exciting field trips, they will meet and interact with professionals from various roles in the local aviation industry, such as pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft mechanics, aviation meteorologists, engineers, and manufacturing specialists. These experiences will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how different careers contribute to the aviation world, inspiring campers to consider their own future possibilities.
